WOMEN LITERACY

In the previous speaking test, my teacher asked for my opinion in what is more important, male literacy or female literacy. I told her immediately that female literacy is more essential and I gave her several reasons. Now, here, I want to continue my speech and show my opinion to other people. As wise man said, ‘When you educate a girl, you educate the society’. That is because an educated girl not only benefits herself, she can also find opportunity to benefit her family, children and her country. First, an educated girl can support her family income by having a good chance to find better job. So that could increase the life level the family would have. Secondly, on the health side, an educated woman is more aware about her general health and her children’s health. For instance, if one of her family member gets sick, she will deal with the situation more proficiently than an uneducated woman by providing good health care or she will take him to a doctor. Furthermore, educated women have enormous influences in their children, who are more motivated to complete their studies and have a better future.   

In brief, in what I had written on women’s literacy, I think most of you now share with me the same point of view and agree that education is more necessary for women than men. As a finial sentence, I prefer to repeat what the wise man said ‘When you educate a girl, you educate the society’.
